Our Story

Posillipo's Restaurant opened in Asbury Park in 1929.  Through a series of sales to trusted friends, the restaurant ownership passed to Dr. Sammarco in 1969, who, after he died in the 1990s, left it to his wife, who then sold it to the present owner David Caesar Espinosa who worked for Posillipo's since 1980.  In 2010, Espinosa closed the Asbury Park location but re-opened in March 2014 on Route 35 in Ocean after getting many requests from former customers.

David brought a lot of the restaurant's original memorabilia with him to the new location, including the menu and the decor.  However, a week after it opened, it was gutted by a fire that was ruled accidental by officials.  The building has since been razed.  Nearly two years after the fire destroyed the old-style Italian eatery, they found a new home a few blocks away.  Keeping the Posillipo's traditions alive, the restaurant re-opened in January 2016.  Posillipo's Restaurant is working hard to be Monmouth County's best Italian Restaurant once again!
